A charming vintage Wade England ceramic pipe holder featuring a beautifully modelled reddish-brown glazed dog standing proudly on a soft green ceramic base.
The whimsical design was originally made as a pipe rest/holder, with the curved raised section designed to support a smoking pipe. Today it makes a lovely and unusual spoon rest, trinket holder or decorative piece and would appeal to collectors of Wade pottery, vintage smoking accessories and dog-themed ceramics.
The dog has wonderful hand-finished detail, with textured fur, expressive features and a glossy warm brown glaze contrasting beautifully with the celadon/sea-green base.
The underside is impressed WADE ENGLAND, confirming its English Wade manufacture. Comparable Wade dog pipe rests are commonly associated with the mid-20th century, particularly the 1950s–60s.
A great piece of British vintage pottery with plenty of character — equally appealing to a Wade collector or simply someone who loves unusual vintage dog ceramics.
