A striking vintage Arthur Wood ceramic jug, beautifully finished in a rich treacle-brown Rockingham-style glaze with dark shaded highlights. Dating from approximately the 1930s–1950s, this decorative English pottery piece features finely relief-moulded hunting scenes encircling the body, complemented by ornate floral detailing around the neck and a distinctive horse-head handle.
Inspired by Victorian Lambeth stoneware, this substantial jug is both decorative and collectible, making it an eye-catching addition to a country cottage, farmhouse, or traditional home. It also makes a wonderful display piece for dried flowers or as part of an English pottery collection.
Condition: Very good vintage condition with no chips or cracks.
There is light age-related crazing to the glaze, which is typical of vintage ceramics and adds to its authentic character. Please refer to the photographs as they form part of the description.
Approximate Date: Circa 1930s–1950s
Maker: Arthur Wood, England
Measurements:
Height:8.25"
Width:7.25"
Diameter:5.25"
A beautifully detailed example of classic Arthur Wood pottery, combining traditional craftsmanship with timeless English country charm.
